Jim Plain Elementary School is home to 850 students and is just a quick two-mile hop from the beautiful Deerbrooke community entrance. Built in 2006, the school board and administration chose to name the school after long-time Leander ISD Deputy Superintendent Jim Plain, who was the very personification of the “Integrity,” and a man of great vision. He played a critical role in developing the district’s school construction program and was dedicated to building great schools for the students of the Leander Independent School District.
The school offers strong reading and math curriculums for grades kindergarten through fifth as well as a half day Pre-K program for eligible children. Leander ISD has also developed academic programs to support advanced learning to offer students that qualify for more challenging instruction opportunities, including PACE (Programs for Advancement, Challenge and Enrichment) Language Arts and Math programs, and the innovative QUEST program for identified gifted students attending Plain Elementary.
The Jim Plain Elementary staff are committed to building a safe and supportive environment for children to engage in learning as a “No Place for Hate” campus where all students feel valued and have the opportunity to succeed by promoting respect and compassion for individual difference. The school’s address is 501 S Brook Dr, Leander, TX 78641. School hours are from 7:45 AM to 2:50 PM each day and follow the Leander ISD school calendar. A current Jim Plain Elementary school supply list can be found on the website.
Plain Elementary School participates in the Leander Mobile Learning Initiative (mLISD) which focuses on providing each student with increased opportunities to engage in gathering new knowledge and skills, building meaning and sharing what they have learned in meaningful and innovative ways.
