Deemed “the high school of the future,” by the Austin American Statesman, children living in Deerbrooke will have the opportunity to attend the new state-of-the-art Tom Glenn High School, Leander Independent School District’s (LISD) newest and largest high school situated on 90 acres in Leander, TX. Featuring the openness of a college campus, the new school has embraced technology and modern features from construction to design and furnishings, including classrooms that open up to hallways, movable furniture and energy efficient wall systems. Named for former LISD superintendent of 20 years, Tom Glenn opened its doors in the fall of 2016. Since then TGHS has grown from 660 students to over 1600 in just three years and employs a well-balanced 125 staff members to support the growing student body.
Located just across the street from Deerbrooke, the Glenn High School address is 1320 Collaborative Way, Leander, TX 78641 and just a short walk for many students living in the community. School hours are from 8:40 AM to 3:45PM each day.
TGHS offers courses for grades ninth – twelfth and will have its first graduating class at the end of the 2018-2019 school year. The school’s mission is, “To embrace the diversity of our community, to provide rigorous educational experiences, and to create a culture of growth that prepares students to be the next generation of achievers,” and has set a goal for every student to take at least on advanced class per year and participate in one extracurricular activity per year.

TGHS participates in the Leander Mobile Learning Initiative (mLISD) and is a 1:1 campus, focused on providing each Glenn High student with increased opportunities to engage in gathering new knowledge and skills, building meaning and sharing what they have learned in meaningful and innovative ways. In order to support this, the school provide students with increased access to digital content, resources and devices to support anytime/anywhere learning. Tom Glenn High School also offers specialty programs such as culinary, construction, welding, and robotics.

Home of the Grizzlies, students have a variety of extracurricular activities choose from at TGHS, including 16 different sports and over 20 clubs. Athletic options for students attending TGHS include baseball, boys basketball, girls basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, boys soccer, girls soccer, softball, sports medicine, swimming, tennis, track, volleyball and wrestling. The outdoor athletics facilities include a competition football field, two practice football/soccer fields, baseball field, softball field and tennis courts.
If sports aren’t top of the list, Tom Glenn High School clubs offer a range of interests to engage with other student’s, including the Bleacher Creatures, the school spirit club; Latin club, political clubs, Key Club, a service organization, robotics and gamer clubs, a variety of academic clubs and more. The school offers a growing fine arts program, the Tom Glenn High School Band, choir, theater, and the Guardians Dance team. Leander ISD is ranked among the top 20 best school districts in Texas by Niche.com and in 2018 earned an A (95). However, the official district rating was reduced to a B, due to TEA policy regarding Improvement Required campuses. All middle school and high school campuses in Leander ISD, including Tom Glenn High School received a Met Standard rating for State Accountability 2018.
